so i do a lot of production work. or at least i used to do a lot more than i do now. it's a really interesting world. you meet a lot of famous people, badass production crews, promoters, radio personalities- it goes on and on. i was working a dvd filming and i gave a director dude a ride to dc after the show. he was awesome. we talked about politics, religion, the way the world was and what makes it go round. when i dropped him off he gave me his card and upon googling him i found that he directed survivor, all of vh1's behind the music's, jimmy kimmel live, america's next best dance crew, and a ton of other stuff. he told me if i was ever in LA to look him up. these are the sorts of things that make this type of work interesting and satisfying.
in this line of work you start to find that it's a small world. i worked the bob dylan show today. i walked in at 9am and found the technical director of the landmark, who told me he had a surprise for me. the surprise was that i had gone to ODU with bob dylan's tour manager. small world. it's always nice working with people that you know.
i get these calls from a lady i know who works for a promoter. working with her is good because she usually takes care of food shopping and meals for the band and i take care of going to the hardware store or guitar center or theatre supply places. i went to the police supply store to get the head security guy a new tactical flashlight. i like doing those sorts of things.
tomorrow i start rebuilding a pizza oven and possibly go to baltimore. no day is ever like the one before it and everyday is definitely an adventure.
